Dallas, TX – The Witherspoon Law Group has secured a $325 million judgment against Lone Star Overnight (LSO) in a Garland, Texas road-rage case. The judgment, entered in the 44th Judicial District Court of Dallas County, arose from a January 12, 2023, incident in which an LSO employee, acting within the scope of his employment, opened fire on a car carrying a father and his young child. The father suffered permanent injuries requiring ongoing medical care, while the child endured severe emotional trauma.

“This was an unthinkable act of violence carried out by an employee who never should have been behind the wheel with access to a firearm while working,” said attorney Nuru Witherspoon.

Attorney Kay Harper Williams added: “Our clients showed extraordinary courage in pursuing this case. This judgment is not just about numbers, it’s about restoring dignity, creating safer communities, and ensuring justice is served.”

This judgment follows another landmark victory in 2024, when The Witherspoon Law Group secured a $158 million jury verdict against Amtrak in a wrongful death case. Together, these results reflect the firm’s commitment to holding powerful corporations accountable and protecting families across the country. Founded in Austin in 1991, Lone Star Overnight has grown from a small regional delivery service into a major logistics provider across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and the Southwest. The company rebranded as LSO in 2013.

The Witherspoon Law Group is a nationally recognized plaintiff’s trial firm with offices across Texas, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, and Arizona. The firm represents families in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and civil rights cases, and has secured record setting judgments and settlements exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars.
